The Department of Psychology was established in 1991, after Klaipėda University was established. The professors of the department teach psychology disciplines in all faculties of Klaipėda University.
60 bachelor’s and 30 master’s courses have been prepared and implemented. The Department of Psychology has signed Erasmus+ bilateral cooperation agreements with higher education institutions in Europe. The teachers of the department are members of the Lithuanian Association of Psychologists, the Lithuanian Dyslexia Association, ICOPE (International Council of Psychology Educators) and ISSBD (International Society for the study of Behavioral Development).
The department conducts bachelor’s (first cycle) and master’s (second cycle) studies. in 2000 the Psychology bachelor’s study program was started, from 2003 – Master’s program in educational psychology. Since 2013 the first Master program in Counseling Psychology in Lithuania has started.
