Scientific activities and research are carried out within the framework of the approved SHMF strategic research direction "Societies and Cultures on the Baltic Coasts" with the aim of social and cultural phenomena in the Baltic coastal areas from the past and present perspectives, contributing to a sustainable society, personal well-being and economic development.
PRIORITIES IN THE DIRECTION “Society and Culture on the Baltic Coasts“:
- Man and landscape: change in living patterns and lifestyles;
- Social and cultural change in the south-eastern Baltic region from the Middle Ages to the present day;
- Linguistic and symbolic systems in coastal communities;
- Transformations of social and spatial structures in today's coastal societies;
- Human resources, regional self-awareness and local community cohesion;
- Social innovation and the competitiveness of the coastal region;
- Human psychosocial development and well-being: factors and their interaction;
- Socio-educational studies of human well-being.
